Perhaps the largest single Bird Net installation to date.

Bird Solutions successfully completed what is believed to be the largest single Bird Net installation project to date.

To reduce potential bird air strikes, 1.2 million square feet of net was installed to protect seven retention ponds, located at Seattle Washington’s SeaTac Airport.

The largest single pond was over 14 acres. The project took us a little over 9 months to complete.

Bird Problems Solved at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant

Bird Problem: Gulls, other sea birds and some problem pigeons were landing and spraying bird droppings all over cooling towers, pipes and walkways at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant. Maintenance of lights and fittings was difficult due to the bird dropping mess. San Onofre called the bird control experts at Bird Solutions in to get rid of the bird problem in the worst areas.

Bird Control Product Solution: Daddi Long Legs, a unique bird control product perfect for rooftop bird problems, was installed all over the towers and on top of the pipes to deter the problem birds from landing. The Daddi Long Legs allowed worker access for maintenance and has blunt tips to prevent injury to workers which was just as important as solving the bird problem! This bird control product effectively gets rid of pigeons and larger birds from landing on protected areas, but is easily removable for maintenance access.

BEFORE

The cooling tanks had been a hang out spot for gulls and other problem birds before the Bird Solutions team was called. Bird droppings created quite a mess that required regular cleanup because of the corrosive nature of bird droppings.

AFTER

A unique bird control product called Daddi Long Legs was installed to deter problem gulls, pigeons and other birds from landing on the cooling towers and pipes. Because the top ‘arm’ portion of the product is removable, this was a perfect bird control product choice for this installation as the staff needed regular access to protected areas.

AFTER

To get rid of gulls and pigeons off tanks at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant, the Daddi Long Legs bird deterrent was installed. This removable device deters problem birds by rotating and waving its ‘arms’ menacingly, also creating a moving barrier against birds landing.

Oceanside Pier Pigeon Problems

Bird Problem: The city of Oceanside had a BIG bird problem on their hands. Over two thousand pigeons were nesting underneath the pier and the bird dropping mess was overwhelming. In addition to the pigeon problem, pelicans and sea gulls were loafing and roosting on top all of the pier structures, making cleanup necessary all too often. The city was also very concerned about the risk of disease from pigeons or other bird droppings and requested a permanent bird barrier like bird spike or bird netting be installed by our pigeon control services experts.

Bird Control Product Solution: Our bird control services experts assessed the bird problem and found the best solution for the pigeon problem underneath the pier was to install bird netting to block access to the support beams where the problem pigeons were nesting. This would get rid of the pigeons and other problem birds there by completely denying access to that area.

To solve the bird problems on top of the pier caused by pigeons, gulls and pelicans, bird net was installed in a canopy style over the roofs of the pier structures, effectively creating a bird barrier blocking the birds’ access. Once these bird control products were installed, the problem pigeons and other pest birds found a more desirable roosting location away from the pier.

Monterey Plaza Hotel Bird Problem Abatement

Bird Problem: Pest Pigeons and Gulls were making a mess with their droppings on the rooftops and walkways below. This also created potential slip and fall hazards as well as an unsightly appearance from the piles of bird droppings. The hotel was concerned about the liability as well as the exterior appearance of the hotel and asked the Bird Solutions team to recommend bird control products that would resolve the bird problem, but also be visually discreet.

Bird Control Product Solution: The rooftops were protected with 2″ bird netting, creating a permanent bird barrier against birds landing on the rooftops. The bird net acts as a strong bird repellent, as it won’t allow the pest pigeons or gulls access to the protected area at all. This effective bird control product is also very difficult to see from even a short distance away, making it a desirable bird deterrent to use to protect high-profile buildings from bird problems.

Before installing the bird net, the certified Bird Solutions team did a thorough bird site cleanup, including pressure washing of the rooftops, walkways and other bird problem areas. After cleaning, the site was also sanitized to prevent the spread of any potential diseases that may be a result of pest bird problems (and the vectors & parasites they carry).

32nd Street Naval Station Pigeon Control Problem

Bird Problem: At the 32nd Street Naval Station, our bird control team worked as a subcontractor through Strong Hold Engineering. They were working with the Army Corp of Engineers to solve pigeon problems at 32nd Street Naval Station. Pigeons were roosting and nesting in the support beams and lights in the rafters, leaving bird droppings all over materials being shipped through the warehouse. This pigeon problem created unsanitary conditions and resulted in regular cleanup and hazardous materials issues for the workers in the area. This particular pigeon control product installation required the use of 60’ boom lifts to install the pigeon control netting and took about 6 weeks to complete.

Bird Control Product Solution: Pigeon netting, a 2 inch mesh of twisted and knotted polyethylene twine designed to last 10 years or more, was installed horizontally to exclude bird access to the many support beams and lighting fixtures where the pigeons were roosting and nesting. The pigeon net installation included the use of bird net zippers to allow access for maintenance on lighting fixtures. Once installed, the pigeon net effectively blocked pigeon access to the entire area and forced them to leave as there were no areas left to perch. The bird net was also installed outside in the loading dock area to get rid of pigeons from the entire building area.

Pigeon netting installed horizontally across the ceiling of a warehouse at 32nd Street Naval Station effectively denies pigeons access to beams and lighting units where pigeons were roosting and nesting.

Pigeon net was installed horizontally on this loading dock outside to keep pigeons from roosting and nesting there as well.

The pigeon net installed at 32nd Street Naval Station keeps pigeons from defecating on the materials warehoused below. Before the bird netting was installed, materials were damaged from pigeon droppings and extra cleaning of the pigeon droppings required as well, resulting in significant labor costs.

The pigeon netting was installed to completely get rid of pigeons entering the support beam and lighting area. However, bird net zippers were installed to give workers needed access for maintenance, while still excluding problems pigeons.

Home Depot Sparrow Control Problem Solved

Bird Problem: A local Home Depot had bird problems. Sparrows were nesting inside one of their warehouse stores. To complicate matters, the sparrows were locating above the checkout area, making a tremendous mess with their bird droppings. The store manager was also concerned about slip and fall liability for the business and the potential for disease from the bird droppings. A permanent bird deterrent was deemed necessary by our bird control service team to get rid of the sparrow problem.

Bird Control Product Solution: Bird net in 3/4″ mesh was installed by our bird control product experts to create a permanent bird barrier. The bird net acted as a repellent to the sparrows accessing the area. Bird netting is the most effective form of bird control, as it completely blocks the problem birds’ access to the protected area. The bird netting also blends nicely with its surroundings, making it a very low visibility bird control product as well as an effective bird deterrent. The red arrows on the photos point out the bird net lines, showing the bird barrier created by installing this bird control product to get rid of sparrows in this warehouse store structure.

Fresno State University Cheers Swallow Control Method

Bird Problem: Fresno State University completed a new Science II Building and swallows immediately noticed the new potential for a nesting colony. The swallows set up residence quickly, building their mud nests and making a mess of the building walls and walkways below. When Bird Solutions was first called to inspect the bird problem it was too late to remove the nests because eggs had already been laid and swallows are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act which prevents nest removal until the birds have abandoned the nests.

Swallows build their mud nests in the corners of windows and overhangs on Fresno State University’s new Science Building

Bird Control Product Solution: After waiting for the birds to leave on their southern migration, the old swallow nests were removed, the area was thoroughly cleaned and our bird control experts installed a newer bird deterrent that is very effective against swallows called Bird Slide. Designed for high visibility areas, this swallow control product blends nearly invisibly with the structure of the building and prevents the swallows from nesting in those angles the next season. Although Bird Solutions often utilizes bird netting to deter swallows, in this instance the Bird Slide was the best bird control product due to the high visibility of the problem areas. As you can see from the pictures, the swallow control product almost looks like it is part of the natural architecture (product is installed in the corners).

Pearl Harbor Defense Distribution Depot Pigeon Netting Installation

Bird Problem: The Army Corp of Engineers was building a new Defense Distribution Depot at Pearl Harbor to store materials and goods for the military. In the past, other military airplane hangars and warehouses had developed pigeon problems. The cross beam structure of hangar and warehouse design is very attractive to pigeons for roosting and nesting. Rather than let a costly pigeon problem develop, they decided to specify pigeon & bird control netting as a preventative measure and made the bird control product installation part of the building process.

Pigeon net was installed to protect the new defense distribution depot facility at Pearl Harbor from any unwanted winged visitors. Zippers were installed in the horizontal bird net surface to allow for maintenance access to lighting. Pigeon net is nearly invisible once installed from ground level, making for a pigeon free, clean facility without an intrusive looking pigeon control product installation.

Bird Control Product Solution: Our bird control team worked with the Army Corp of Engineers and subcontractor Miller Watt Construction to install pigeon net across the entire ceiling of the warehouse facility, cutting off all pigeon access to the support beams. Installing 3/4″ bird nets in such an large space is difficult and requires expertise in setting the correct net cabling support system, pulling the pigeon net correctly to ensure there are no gaps large enough for pigeons to gain access to the protected area, and experience using boom lifts to install pigeon netting so the pigeon control product does not rip or tear and product is not wasted. The pigeon control team at Bird Solutions has years of experience working large jobs such as this in other warehouses and airplane hangars to ensure a professional and long-lasting pigeon exclusion installation.

Bird netting comes in various sizes to combat different bird species. The 3/4 inch mesh size bird net excludes all bird species, from pigeons to sparrows. The bird netting consists of twisted and knotted polyethylene twine designed to last 10 years or more, and bird net is one of the most effective pigeon control products on the market. This pigeon net installation also included the use of bird net zippers to allow access for maintenance on lighting fixtures. Once installed, the pigeon net effectively blocks the pigeons from accessing any part of the entire area and forces them to leave as there are no areas to perch or nest on anymore.

Pigeon netting is installed horizontally across the entire warehouse ceiling by using a boom lift for access. A tight cable support system and taut pigeon net ensure that no gaps are left for pigeons to roost or nest in the beam structure above.

The entire ceiling of this new defense distribution depot facility is protected with pigeon net to keep pigeons from leaving droppings on the high tech equipment and supplies in this warehouse. The pigeon net presents an impenetrable barrier to the pigeons that want to access the rafters for nesting or roosting opportunities.

Pigeon Netting Installation at Oregon State University Stadium

Bird Problem: Oregon State University had just finished construction on a new football stadium. As they were building the structure, they noticed pigeons and other birds roosting on beams and lights. They realized that the architecture of the structure was very attractive to pigeons for nesting and roosting, so they specified 3/4 inch mesh bird netting to be installed after construction as a preventative measure against developing pigeon problems or other bird problems. Our bird control experts worked as a subcontractor to Isec Construction, a subcontractor of the General Contractor, Hunt/Wildish.

This was a very complicated pigeon netting installation as access to the overhang was incredibly difficult. A general boom lift was not possible to use for access, so our pigeon control team had to use a swing stage under the canopy to gain access to all of the areas necessary to install the pigeon net.

Bird Control Product Solution: It is imperative when installing pigeon netting to make sure there are no gaps in the bird net cable support system or the bird netting cable attachments so the problem birds are completely denied access to the protected area and there are no holes for the pigeons to squeeze through. Pigeons, sparrows and other pest birds that have been nesting in an area can be especially determined to remain in that area and will try to squeeze through any opening they can to get back to their nesting spots. That is why the proper spacing of pigeon net attaching to the cable support structure is vitally important. Many bird control installation companies do not have experience installing large pigeon net jobs and they do not know how to maintain a consistent pull with the pigeon netting itself during installation to remove all gaps. Also, many bird control installation companies are not used to working with boom lifts and other types of special access required for many large scale pigeon net jobs.

Bird control netting hangs from the overhangs of the new stadium at Oregon State University. Bird net was installed as a preventative measure to deter pigeons and other birds from nesting and roosting in the beam structure of the overhang which is highly desirable to pigeons and other birds generally. Pigeon net is nearly invisible once installed from ground level, making for a bird free, clean facility without an intrusive looking pigeon control product installation.

The bird net was installed by our team of bird control experts hanging from a special swing stage to gain access to the far areas of the underside of the overhangs to attach the pigeon net. The bird netting was stretched all along the underside of the overhangs to completely block access to the support beam structure so desirable to pigeons, sparrows and other problem birds for nesting.

Pigeon Netting Installation at Air Force Hangar Air Force Base

Pigeon Problem: The Army Corp of Engineers was in the process of building a new airplane hangar to house the Predator remote controlled aircraft. Other hangars at other military bases around the world have developed pigeon problems in the past due to their beam structure that is very attractive to pigeons for roosting and nesting. It was decided that rather than let a pigeon problem develop, they would install pigeon control products as a preventative measure as part of the building construction process.

Pigeon Control Product Solution: Our bird control team worked with the Army Corp of Engineers and subcontractor Okland Constructions Company’s engineering staff to install pigeon control netting across the entire underside of the beam structure of the hangar. When installing any bird control net in such a large space, it is important to make sure there are no gaps between the pigeon net cable support system and the structure or where the pigeon netting is attached to the cable support system so the pigeons cannot gain access the beam area at all. Many bird control installation companies do not have the experience working with such large pigeon net installations to know how to maintain a consistent pull with the pigeon net during installation to remove all gaps. Also, many bird exclusion companies are not used to working with the boom lifts required for a bird control job of this scale. For this installation, 3/4 inch mesh bird net was selected for the installation to exclude all bird species from taking up residence in the hangar.

Bird netting comes in various sizes to get rid of different bird species. The 3/4 inch mesh size bird net excludes all bird species, from pigeons to sparrows. The bird netting consists of twisted and knotted polyethylene twine designed to last 10 years or more, and bird net is one of the most effective pigeon control products on the market. The pigeon net installation included the use of net zippers installed strategically to allow access for maintenance on lighting fixtures. Once installed, the pigeon net effectively blocks the access of the pigeons to the entire area and forces them to leave as there is no area for them to perch anymore.

Pigeon netting is installed horizontally across the entire hangar ceiling by using a boom lift for access to ensure that there are no gaps for pigeons or other problem birds to roost or nest in the beam structure above. Pigeon net is nearly invisible once installed from ground level, making for a pigeon free, clean facility without an intrusive looking pigeon control product installation.

The pigeon control net installed at Air Force Hangar keeps pigeons from leaving their acidic bird droppings on the high tech equipment (Predator aircraft) stored below. The bird net presents an impenetrable barrier to the pigeons and other problem birds that want to access the rafters.

Pfizer Building Bird Problems

Bird Problem: Pesky Crows were eating away at a new sealant applied to a Pfizer building roof, creating many spots where the building was not water tight. The crow problem needed to be solved with a permanent bird control product installation.

Bird Control Product Solution: Electrical bird track called BirdShock was installed along the parapet edges, giving the crows a scare with a mild conditioning shock that convinced them the building was an undesirable location for their hang out. The electric bird track is a humane bird control product that offers a low-visibility, effective solution for tough bird problems. It is an effective bird deterrent on ledges and building parapets especially.

Yosemite College Sends Swallows and Their Messy Nests Packing with BirdSlide Swallow Control Product

Bird Problem:  Yosemite College had several buildings that swallows returned to nest on every year.  Tired of the hassles of cleaning up the mess the swallows made with their droppings and nesting materials, the college turned to Bird Solutions to install a swallow control product that would prevent the swallows from building their nests in the first place.  The timing of the installation was important because swallows are afforded protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the swallow exclusion and nest removal had to be done after the birds left their nests for the year.

Bird Control Product Solution:  After waiting for the birds to leave on their southern migration, the old nests were removed, the area was thoroughly cleaned and the Bird Solutions bird control team installed a swallow deterrent called BirdSlide.  The Bird Slide swallow control product is designed for high visibility areas to blend almost invisibly with the structure of the building.  Because it cuts off the corner angle where the swallows like to build their nests, BirdSlide provides very effective swallow control on a permanent low-visibility basis.  As you can see from the pictures, the BirdSlide swallow control product almost looks like it is part of the natural architecture (grey area under eave). BirdSlide can also be painted to match the building completely.

Swallows found the eaves of Yosemite College building a haven and built hundreds of mud nests, creating a huge mess every year. College officials tired of the associated liability and cleanup expenses turned to Bird Solutions for an effective, low visibility bird control product that would not harm the protected birds.

The Bird Solutions experts installed BirdSlide, a low visibility swallow control product that cuts off the angle of the eave where swallows like to build their nests. BirdSlide is hard to detect, especially when painted to match the building, but it provides complete exclusion from swallows building their nests under eaves.

Swallow Prevention with BirdSlide on Exclusive Home Looks Beautiful

Bird Problem: Swallows were building mud nests on a brand new multi-million dollar home. The owners hadn’t even moved in yet, but the swallows had made themselves at home, setting up house and making a mess with their mud nests and dropping debris. The homeowners were not happy with their unexpected feathered guests and looked for a swallow control product that would prevent the swallows from building their mud nests on the house, but not destroy the look of their brand new, expensive home.

Bird Control Product Solution: The Bird Solutions bird control experts brought in the new swallow control product called BirdSlide for the homeowners. BirdSlide is a durable and very aesthetically pleasing bird control product. BirdSlide is especially effective at preventing swallows from building their mud nests under the eaves of buildings as it blocks the angled corners where swallows look to anchor their nest. Best of all, BirdSlide blends in extremely well with almost any architecture and it can be painted so it will look like it was part of the design plan, while providing complete protection from swallow problems at the same time.

The Bird Solutions installation team cleaned up the job site and removed the partial nests that the swallows were just starting to build, then installed BirdSlide under all of the eaves to prevent the swallows from trying to rebuild their nests. Once installed, the BirdSlide was painted to match the roofline. Now only the homeowners know how close they came to providing housing for hundreds of unwanted tenants on their new home!

BirdSlide swallow control product is installed under all of the home's eaves to prevent swallows from building their mud nests in the protected corners. BirdSlide can be customized to any size and shape to provide complete protection from swallows and other birds accessing the area.

Swallow problems were resolved on this brand new multi-million dollar home without destroying the look of the home itself. The swallow prevention product BirdSlide was installed by Bird Solutions to prevent swallows from building mud nests under the eaves and then it was painted to blend in with the rest of the roofline. Even close up, no one but the homeowners and the now homeless swallows can tell there is a swallow control product at work protecting the building. To the casual observer, the Bird Slide swallow control product looks like a planned architectural detail along the roof. The BirdSlide keeps the building free of swallow nests and droppings to keep it looking good, and it even looks good itself!

Swallow Problem Solved on Apartment Building

Bird Problem: Swallows were just starting to build their mud nests under the eaves of an apartment building, causing a big mess with their bird droppings and disturbing tenants with their noise. Bird Solutions installed bird netting at a special angle to prohibit the swallows from their nest building activities. One of the photos shows swallows trying to return to prime nesting spots denied by the bird net while a fascinated cat watches.

Bird Control Product Solution: Bird netting ¾ mesh in size was installed at a specific angle to prohibit the swallows from building their mud nests under the eaves of the apartment building. The bird net creates a permanent bird barrier that cuts off the angle favored by swallows to anchor their mud nests. After trying for an afternoon in vain to regain their desire nesting spot, the swallows left the site for a more desirable location. All of the apartment residents were elated except for one tenant’s cat.
